About National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) is the first university/research institution established in the Balkans peninsula and the Eastern Mediterranean region. NKUA is the leading Greek academic and research institution and one of the top European universities, taking into account all types of international rankings of research institutions and world universities. NKUA currently has nine schools, including the School of Sciences, with about 40,000 undergraduate students, 14,000 post-graduate students, 9,000 phd candidates, and 2,000 faculty members. Research projects implemented in NKUA employ 6,500 to 7,500 researchers annually. The Department of Chemistry of NKUA (part of the School of Sciences), with 46 faculty members, conducts research in all aspects of modern Chemistry, occupying a high position in the ranking of the best Chemistry Departments worldwide. The Department possess all the necessary large-scale, state-of-the-art infrastructure, related to Synthetic and Materials Chemistry. The Laboratory of Organic Chemistry of NKUA is the oldest and most prestigious organic chemistry laboratory in Greece, and has achieved excellence in research, among others by acquiring numerous highly competitive research funds.

Role within SUPERLASER

NKUA is Work Package leader of Work Package 3 on the development of functional materials and particularly responsible for n-type Organic Transport Layers.
